Playstation COS Cup – The German Championship Series 2007

The locusts are back, and in 2007 they visited (and partly wasted) Münster, Dresden, Weil am Rhein, and Hamburg for the grand finale. You could say that the official German Championship Series was distributed pretty evenly this year, and rightly so. The concrete park in Dresden turned out to be a perfect spot with artsy concrete obstacles sprinkled all around the skatepark—they even had a tree for some well-needed protection from the scorching sun. And the hotel was right next to the park, which had some kids up and running at 6am on Sunday morning, when most of the older riders returned from one of the already legendary contest parties. Münster and Weil saw these parties go down right next to the skateparks, which made it difficult to escape. And if you’ve ever been to Hamburg, I don’t even have to tell you about Reeperbahn. If you’ve never been to Hamburg, I shouldn’t tell you about it either. It’s a bad place, anyway. Hamburg’s Friday night saw the successful premier of the 5.1 video project at the Streit’s cinema, a nice, not too small venue in the heart of the city. Paco Elles, Alex Mizurov, Philipp Schuster, Jan Kliewer, Laif Draasch, and a truckload of free drinks all did their parts to make this a memorable night.
To make a long story short: in it’s 13th year, the series still is one of the funnest things to attend. It’s all about having a good time with friends from all over the country. By the time you read this, the final jam session including Richie Löffler, Sascha Ewest, Yannick Schall, Alex Mizurov, and an unbelievable Lem Villemin should be waiting for you inside the next computer. Can’t wait for the ‘08. clubofskater.
