He won’t let Davy (photographer) go home before they get a photo. It doesn’t matter if it’s 3 o’clock at night or if Davy assures him the photo will not get used because he already has enough.
He ‘s the world “Most Crooked Grinds In One Minute” record holder. He reverts out of the tenth one at exactly 1 minute and 2 seconds but he nollies into the first so that compensates. Watch:
He once jumped around with weights on his ankles to get more pop. True story. Sometimes when he’s trying a trick he thinks he’s going to break his neck. He added that he finds it hard to get back into the vibe after such thoughts.
He jumped out of the fountain over the bank at Fondo more than 30 times in a row.
When I asked him what he thinks about when he just bailed or took a slam he said he had just been thinking “It really does hurt your feet sometimes” .
I truly believe Phil is unable to just cruise around aimlessly. Not that he’s some training freak jock boy, it’s just the way he rolls. Besides, who ever said trying hard is for suckers? Trying to look cool is. (We’re all guilty so quit it already) Either he’s learning a new trick or getting something that was new yesterday on lock. Sometimes, most of the time actually, the getting on lock part looks like he’s cruising around. The only difference is that he throws in frontsides bigspins, ridiculously tweaked ollies and whatever trick he just learned instead of frontside grinds and well, trying to look cool. Personally, I’m a great fan of riding around aimlessly (and trying to look cool) but I am trying to explain that I really like the idea of trying hard and being honest about it, which is, as I said before, the way Phil rolls. It’s pretty much the way skateboarding in general rolls if you think about it. Who else than skaters and homeless people spends so much time lying down on the dirty floor before the eyes of the ever-giggling public?
Phil also would like to thank his family, Stijn at DC, Sven & Lina, Transind, Jelle Keppens, Ubi, Dee, Stannie, Ben and everybody he forgot.
