June 17 will go down as a sad day in German skateboarding, as city officials finally made the ledges at the Dom Plaza (aka Roncalliplatz, aka “the spot next to the big church") unskateable. Local skaters led by the Dom Skateboarding e.V. first managed to hinder the workers who showed up at 9am to cut chamfers into the ledges, but had to give way after protesting, and discussing with city officials for eight hours.
So far, the city has promised alternatives, but it has still failed to come up with a single one. Cultural disgrace.
