It’s All So Simpel

December 02, 2008 @ 10:03 AM

It is getting close! It’s only two months until the annual Simpel Session contest in Tallinn, Estonia. Last year was nuts, hands down. The contest has reached its 9th year in a row and as far as we can see this one will be the best ever. The event will once again take place in the almighty Saku Hall, hosting more than 10.000 spectators and offering the best possible atmosphere for a skateboard event that has grown into one of the best in Europe. Let’s see what some of the contestants had to say.

“I like the contest a lot, its a lot bigger than most European contests, there is more people and more support.”
-- Sierra Fellers USA

“There’s amazing crowd in the contest, the people here in Estonia are really enjoying what riders are doing. In all the other places they are used to more different stuff, so whatever you do people don’t even cheer, but here the crowd is always with you, they are enjoying it with you. That’s a very good feeling, it pushes you to try more and do more. If I have a chance to come back I will definitely come back.”
-- Chris Pfanner AUT

“It’s a really good contest. Everyone is friendly and I want to point out that the course is really good, better than a lot of stuff that you go to.”
-- Danny Wainwright UK

We’ll be down with street jam as well as the best trick contest. Prize purse will contain royalties for all together 13 500€. Course design is made once again by Nate Wessel, who has been doing the job for the past 3 years. Let’s face is though, Mr. Wessel has again overdone himself. The course will be amazing. The skateboard comp will be hosted by none other than Mr Dave Duncan himself. The jam format itself means its relaxed as always, no pressure, just fun times on a skateboard. Several good parties, a skate film festival, over all just good times!

The event will take place in Tallinn, the medieval capital of Estonia. Considering a population of almost a half a million people, Tallinn has plenty of nightclubs, bars and cheap joints to suit all and every taste. The Session will host 3 official parties - one for every night of the event. You have probably missed your flight over here if you’re not having fun in Tallinn!

Wanna know whose coming this year? Kerry Getz, Stefan Janoski, Silas-Baxter Neal, Chris Haslam, Caswel Berry, Patrick Melcher, Chad Muska, Greg Lutzka, Jereme Rogers and many more. There will be many good guys from Europe too, still to be confirmed. Altogether 70 pro skaters from all over the place!  And some impressions from last January.
