One of the discoveries of the trip when we returned to Dublin last year was one Gav Coughlan. He is the classic example of a young skater who went from being a skate rat to being a session ender almost overnight. You take your eyes off them for a minute and suddenly they are accelerating away from everyone else in terms of ability, and better at the end of a day than they were at the start. During the Wood Quay rail session that G1 skateshop organised, his kickflip feeble on the handrail elevated Irish skateboarding to a new benchmark, and left visiting pro’s shocked at the calibre of this unseen new breed. Our tip for the top, if he gets himself off our rain soaked little island and into the wider skateboarding world.
