“Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players, and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol and dental insurance. Choose fixed-interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisure wear and matching luggage. Choose a three piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing you last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked-up brats you have spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life… But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin’ else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when there’s the YAMA family?”
(based loosely on Trainspotting)
Yama’s conquering of the world started a little over ten years ago. DON’T PANIC. Muki is a veteran, a survivor of several battles, and one of the older dogs out there. He’s pushing 30, nevertheless he looks like a “normal” mortal of his generation, even though he hasn’t discarded his uniform—consisting of a beer, a cig, his skateboard, and a Slaytanic Wehrmacht shirt—yet.
“I have no idea how it all started. Must have been around 17 years ago in some bar, when I visited London with my mom, and my brother. This thing fell in love with me in an instant, but my mother wouldn’t let it have me—even though it was wrapped up in a condom! When my 13th birthday came around though, she allowed that boner access to my life. Ever since then we’ve been fucking like rabbits. It only let me down once: when it came to monetary problems. All that bitch cares for is money. But fuck it, there’s a new pimp in town, so I don’t have to pay for it anymore. I’ll be 30 this year, and it’s still working perfectly. Not too long ago I thought I had grown old, but Pfanner explained: ‘Fuck you, age is only in your head. Let’s go shred!’ Ever since then, I’ve been 14, far from being an old fart. Skate & Destroy forever.”
Enlarging the battlefield. Armed with gained experiences and routines of a few years, Muki and a few friends visit various command centres, to develop new plans of action. Usually, those centres are smoke-filled locations full of guitars that sound like machine guns. Those put us just in the right mood, really.
“Prepare for Attack
Your Body will Burn
Endless War
There’s no return
Prepare for Attack
Death will Arrive
Your Orders are clear
No way to hide
Fight till death”

“I never had the motivation to start my own company. That’s why fuckin’ Yama Skateboards isn’t my company. Yama belongs to the one person that managed to stay young, while the world around him grew old: Alexander Kramer. He was the motivated one. The philosophy behind it? Recognize what’s going on in the world around you, and have fun skateboarding. I don’t earn that much money with skateboarding, beer is expensive, let alone cigarettes! They’ll kill me, or at least my last few cents. Carhartt, Yama, Vans, and the Yummy skateshop support me nicely though. Thanks guys!”
The last mission took place in Sicilia with recruit Danger Dave, sniper Antonio, bomber Chris, theorizer Jo, Stöpsel (drinks), sleeper Spettel, squad leader Flo, reporter Kotzi, and lieutenant Muki, and can be seen as a full success. Muki fearlessly steered the yellow tank through the narrow roads of Palermo, and attacked everything in sight.
“I get up and down five espressi. Then work. Skateboarding, or maybe not. Drink. Chill with Hanna and friends. Or I get up, have only two and a half espresso, drink, and hate people. Not some—all of them. Drink more, have a bun with liver loaf, lie down. Or I just haul kickflips over ledges and handrails. It depends.”
Discussing things like these mess with our grey cells. If you want to get the whole picture, you’re gonna have to check out the new Yama video. Anyway, everyone of us would throw himself on a handgrenade for Mucki without thinking twice. See you at the Heldenplatz!
“I’d like to thank Yama Skateboards From Hell, Carhartt and Lars, Vans and Steffi, Yummy skateshop, Hanna is da shit—she saves my life. Mom, brother, Spettel, T, and the rest of the Yama gang. The Marent twins, for doing the thinking for the crew. Yama TM Flo, Kozina, Sperka, Wolfi, Luger. Oli Schran. Percy (where’s my mag?). Antiz-Crew, keep on fuckin’ it up. Hasen in der Anschützgasse. My colleagues at work. Everyone who doesn’t give a shit about god. Sorry, if I forgot to mention you…”
