Where am I calling you?
Right now I’m at Stillwater, Minnesota, in the house I grew up in. I’m just getting up, gonna do some artwork and walk around. It’s negative 9 outside.
Is that in Celsius or Fahrenheit?
I don’t even know. What do you guys do?
We’re into Celsius here.
Yeah I think that’s what it is.
Is there a lot of snow outside?
Yeah there’s a good amount. It’s frozen though, not like snowman snow, more like icy snow.
Have you been there for a while or just visiting parents a bit?
I had to come back for this ankle cleaning I guess you could call it. It’s an arthroscopic, surgical event, where they make two incisions on the top of your ankle and then shave any bone off that shouldn’t be there. It’s been bothering me for a few years now.
Is that going to keep you out for a while?
No the recovery time is just a couple of months so it shouldn’t mess me up too bad.
Are going to be concentrating on your art for a while til you get better?
Yeah, I’ve just taken a printmaking class here, I really like linoleum cuts. I’m working on some graphics for Osiris, Stereo and We.
Have you got one of those presses for the lino stuff?
I don’t actually, I just do that stuff by hand. But at the place where I took the class they have all these amazing presses. They’re insane. They’re like from the 40’s and they’re huge. You get a better print out of it, but you need to go to a class to use one.
Couldn’t you just pick one up on ebay real cheap?
Yeah you could, but they’re like three thousand pounds. They’re huge.
You have any exhibitions or anything coming up?
The next show that I’m involved in is a WeSC show that’s gonna be at the Berman Gallery in Santa Monica on March 1st. Then there’ll be another one in New York with the same stuff but I don’t know when that one’s gonna be. It’s just like a show with all the We activists that are artists.
