Wilko at éS sent us an email with the blow-by-blow:
“ Last weekend it was éS Game of SKATE-weekend in the Netherlands!
On Saturday there were 12 qualifying rounds spread all over the country where about 300 skaters in total competed for a place in the final on Sunday in The Hague.
The man to beat was Sewa Kroetkov who has some impressive éS Game of SKATE statistics! Sewa entered the Dutch éS Game of SKATE four times over the last years and won three of them. From the three times he entered the European finals he won the 2005 one and ended up second in 2007.
After a few rounds of SKATE we ended up with; Steve van der Kooi, éS Europe rider Ricardo Paterno, Leon Huiskes and Sewa Kroetkov. While Sewa won from Steve without giving up one letter it was a more thrilling battle between Leon and Ricardo. They both ended up with S.K.A.T. but Leon kept his head cool and won this half final.
So the final of 2007 repeated itself, Leon Huiskes vs. Sewa Kroetkov. Everyone was excited and wanted to see if Leon could prevent Sewa from going to the European finals for the fourth time. They both skate really clean, had lots of pop and were clearly leveled with each other, also this game ended up with both of the skaters having S.K.A.T. In the end Leon failed to make a nollie double heelflip which sends Sewa to the European finals for the fourth time!”
