How did the whole Anti Hero thing happen for you? Did you know those guys from before?
I met John a couple of years ago on the Vans “pleased to meet you tour” and Julian last year in Barcelona, when he came out with his friend Cyrus. We drank a couple of beers at Macba and I showed him some spots on the Metro Map. I also got along very well with Andrew Allen from the Vans trips we’ve been on together. At this time I was been flowed a couple of boards from real and they asked me if I would be down to get on the Real AM team. I was always stoked on Anti Hero and the way they saw skateboarding. A bunch of friends having a good time on their skateboards, no fancy hotels no plans! Just see where your skateboard takes you! The main reasons why I started skateboarding. I didn’t really know anybody from the Real team either, so I just asked if I could roll with the Anti Hero crew instead. A few days later I got an Email for John and Julian, saying they would be stoked to have me on!
How did it feel fullcabbing the Santa Monica triple?
The Caballerial feels good in general, no matter where you do it.
How did that happen – was that something you’d been thinking about doing for a while, or did you just happen to be feeling that way without warning?
I was in LA skating and that was a spot I knew from watching skate videos. I wanted to see the spot itself. I got there and started skating it, because I was so excited. Ollied it, BS ollied it and started trying the caballerial. There was a lot going on that day. Cops were roaming around, pedestrians and bikers passing by and after a couple of tries I landed it, but with all the hectic stuff around it I wanted to stop. It was my last day in LA and I hate quitting. Luckily Anthony Acosta and the crew were there and they made me aware of it. A few tries later I rolled away from it. We all went to the bar, that was right at the bottom of the set and had a few brews together. Thanks a lot guys for giving me the motivation I was missing.
You’ve been jumping down (and over) some huge things for a long time now. How’s the body taking it?
That’s the way I enjoy skating! And so far I’m still feeling great!
